Coco De Chom

Sustainability

At Coco De Chom, we believe that sustainability doesn't have to be a limiting factor but rather an opportunity for creativity and innovation.

We recognize that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting and resource-intensive industries globally, and through a sustainability-first mindset, we have the chance to create the change we want to see in the world.

As an eco-conscious brand, this commitment to sustainability is not just a buzzword or a trend, but a responsibility to ourselves, our customers, and the planet.

We are working hard to ensure our upcoming collections include more responsible fibers like linen, cotton and viscose. We are committed to researching sustainable processes and using energy produced through renewable sources.

Our goal is to create unique, fashionable, and versatile pieces that make you feel good, both inside and out.

For us, sustainability is a journey, not a destination. It's a constant process of learning, adapting, and improving. That's why we're continuously exploring new ways to reduce our environmental impact and support sustainable practices.

We don't claim to be a sustainable brand or a slow fashion brand. Instead, we commit in being the most responsible version of ourselves and keep improving to get better each day.

These are the 6 practical steps

we're taking to achieve our sustainability goals in every part of our business:

01

Small batch production

We collaborate with local artisans who design and craft each piece by hand, creating only what we need. This approach has numerous benefits beyond reducing the amount of unsold inventory and wasted resources that occur in large-scale production.

Our local artisans can give each piece the attention it deserves, ensuring it meets our highest standards for craftsmanship, durability, and design. This focus on quality means that our customers receive garments they can wear and cherish for years rather than fast fashion items that fall apart after a few wears.

Additionally, small batch production allows us to be more flexible and responsive to our customers' needs. We can quickly make adjustments to our designs and production processes based on feedback from past buyers without wasting resources that have gone unused.

Sustainable fashion is about more than just the clothes we wear. It's about the entire ecosystem that surrounds fashion, including packaging.
02

Minimal recycled packaging

Sustainable fashion is about more than just the clothes we wear. It's about the entire ecosystem that surrounds fashion, including packaging.

And yes, sustainable packing can be beautiful!

When you receive an order from us, it will arrive in minimal recycled packaging that has been carefully selected to protect your garment during shipping. We are also constantly researching and testing new materials and processes to move towards more compostable and recyclable materials. This is an ongoing process, and we are committed to continuously improving our packaging practices to minimize our environmental impact.

03

Free carbon-neutral shipping on all orders

As an online retailer, we understand that shipping is a necessary evil, but we believe that it can be done more sustainably.

We are committed to reducing the impact of our online operations and is taking steps to build a more sustainable ecommerce business. To offset the impact of our ecommerce shipments, we now provide free
carbon neutral shipping for all online orders.

For every order processed online, we make a contribution to carbon removal and storage projects that are working to actively reverse climate change as part of Shopify’s Sustainability Fund.

All deliveries with our shipping partner USPS and UPS are part of a global partnership of postal services that is working to reduce emissions, including indirect emissions generated by subcontractors.

04

Slow fashion

We believe that fashion should be about quality over quantity and that every piece in your wardrobe should be designed to last for many years.

That's why we focus on creating versatile, timeless garments that can be worn every day, on vacation, and for any occasion.

Artisans made with fair trade and Supporting communities
05

Supporting communities through fair wages

Our team of artisans in Thailand are skilled in traditional techniques and are experts at their skills. Their passion and talent are evident in every product we create and sets Coco de Chom apart from other brands. For us, fair wages are non-negotiable.

We are committed to supporting local artisans and trade-fair practices while also ensuring that there is no child labor involved in any aspect of our production.

As our brand grows, we face the challenge of ensuring that our collections continue to be locally sourced and made by our Thai makers, who we have worked with for over 15 years. However, in some cases, we must partner with offshore artisans to meet the specialized manufacturing needs of our collections. In such cases, we prioritize partnering with artisans
who provide safe working environments and the best qualities.

We give back

At Coco de Chom, we believe that sustainability and social responsibility go hand in hand.

Giving back is not only part of our commitment to a more sustainable future but at the core of our ethos as a brand.

Currently, we are working with the Children’s Village School, and a portion of each sale funds vegetable, mushroom, and chicken farming amongst other projects.

This is our community, and we are proud to be able to make a difference.
